Description
Adapted upper secondary school (AG) in Gothenburg is expanding, and we are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the development of our schools.
We are now seeking a school librarian for a shared position between Stora Holm AG1, Stora Holm AG2, and Lindholmen's high school library. The workplaces are located in Hisingen, and you will work half-time at Lindholmen's high school library and half-time at the units located at Stora Holm.
At Stora Holm AG1, there are 64 students, most of whom study the National Programs: Vehicle Care and Goods Handling, Property and Construction, and Forest, Land, and Animals. At Stora Holm AG2, there are 45 students studying the Individual Program. The students have an intellectual disability, sometimes with various additional diagnoses such as autism, mobility impairments, or visual and hearing impairments.
Lindholmen's high school library is a shared school library for over 4000 students and staff at six high schools in the area. Here, you will be part of our team consisting of eight school librarians and one library host.
We work based on Gothenburg City's library plan 2024-2028, aiming for the school library to have a clear pedagogical function, with the primary task of promoting students' reading and media and information literacy through collaboration with teachers and other staff. The purpose of the school library's activities is to increase students' goal achievement, well-being, and identity formation.
Responsibilities
You will work to strengthen students' reading engagement and reading ability in a broad sense, which includes storytelling in text, image, sound, and aesthetic expressions. Adapted reading is an important part of the reading promotion work. Stora Holm AG1 has a small school library, while Stora Holm AG2 is about to start its school library activities. You are expected to lead reading and language development activities in libraries and classrooms. You will plan and implement teaching in collaboration with teachers to strengthen students' media and information literacy based on their individual conditions. Your work contributes to the school's success in its pedagogical mission and prepares students for adult life.
At Lindholmen's high school library, the tasks consist of daily duties in the library according to a schedule, as well as other tasks commonly found in a larger library.
As a librarian within the Education Administration, you will be part of the administration's network of high school librarians.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science. You have digital competence relevant to the tasks and a strong interest in children's and youth literature. You have the ability to adapt the school library's mission for students in the adapted upper secondary school. We also welcome knowledge and understanding of the importance of AAC and clarifying pedagogy.
To fit this role, you need to have a strong commitment to young people in need of special support and their learning, interests, and digital worlds. We are looking for someone who can work well with others and create good relationships with both students and colleagues.
You communicate and encourage dialogue based on students' individual conditions and daily forms. You are comfortable speaking in front of groups in various contexts. You take the initiative to develop the activities and are responsible for ensuring that the work progresses.
Other
For your interview, you need to bring your passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EES. This is to ensure your identity and that you have the right to work in Sweden.
Referring to the laws regulating background checks, the person offered this position must present an extract from the criminal record before an employment contract can be established.
For positions requiring education, those advancing in the recruitment process will need to submit documentation supporting their education, e.g., certification or diploma. You can also attach them directly to your application.
